MMPA Inaugural Dinner: Inspiration, Celebration, and Community
On February 8, 2025, over 200 professionals gathered at the RBC Convention Centre for the Manitoba Muslim Professionals Association’s (MMPA) Inaugural Dinner—a sold-out event that marked the beginning of a new chapter for Manitoba’s Muslim professional community alhamdulillah.
The evening was filled with meaningful connections, inspiring stories, and well-deserved recognition. Our keynote speaker, Isha Khan, CEO of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, shared her reflections on finding your path, owning your identity, and pursuing your passions. Her address reminded us that what matters is not how others see us but how we see ourselves.
We also proudly honoured individuals who have made significant contributions to their fields and our community:
Dr. Tassaduq Khan & Dr. Aliya Khan – Recognized for their lifelong impact in medicine, both as dedicated physicians and mentors who shaped the future of healthcare in Manitoba.
Dr. Ali Khan, MMPA Advisor, presented the Senior Professional Awards to Dr. Tassaduq Khan and Dr. Aliya Khan.
Jameel Khan – Awarded for his outstanding community service, particularly his pivotal role in securing the land for Winnipeg’s Grand Mosque, a cornerstone of our community.
Harun Kibrige, MMPA Treasurer, presented the Community Service Professional Award to Jameel Khan.
Dr. Ehab El-Salakawy – Celebrated for professional excellence in structural engineering, with groundbreaking research that has advanced infrastructure durability and design across Canada.
Dr. Mohamed Bassuoni presented the Professional Excellence Award to Dr. El-Salakawy.
This event was not only a celebration of professional excellence but also a testament to the strength and unity of our community.
Special thanks to the Manitoba Islamic Association (MIA) for their continuous support and promotion of the event. We could not have had filled the event without their support.
Thank you for helping us make this event a milestone in MMPA’s journey.
